Common questions

Is there any downtime?

You'll usually have some redness and small bumps at the injection points that settle within hours, and swelling or bruising that peaks around day two and lasts 2 to 7 days. Most people carry on with normal life straight away and just cover any marks with makeup after the first day.

Does it hurt?

It's quite manageable — we use numbing cream beforehand, and the filler itself contains lidocaine so it numbs as it goes in. Most people feel pressure and a brief sting rather than anything sharp.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people need just one session, with an optional top-up at 2 to 4 months if you want extra refinement. If you have a wedding, holiday or photoshoot coming up, book at least 4 weeks before so everything is settled and looking its best.

How long do the results last?

You'll see the change immediately, and it looks its best at about 2 weeks once the swelling has gone down. From there it typically lasts 12 to 18 months, longer than filler in more mobile areas because the nose does not move much.

Are there any side effects?

You can expect some redness, swelling, tenderness and possibly bruising around the injection points for a few days. Rarely the filler can form small lumps or show as a blue tint if placed too shallow, and there is a very small risk of more serious problems affecting the blood supply or vision — which is why Bella only does this with full emergency protocols in place.

Before your treatment

  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before — it thins the blood and bruising shows more
  • Stop blood thinners like aspirin or ibuprofen 3 days before if your doctor agrees
  • Do not book if you have a cold sore, spot or any skin infection on or around the nose
  • Skip retinol or strong active skincare on your nose for 3 days beforehand
  • Come with clean skin and no makeup on the nose
  • Eat normally and drink water — no need to fast

Aftercare

  • Do not touch, rub or press on your nose for 24 to 48 hours
  • Sleep with your head raised on extra pillows for 2 to 3 nights to reduce swelling
  • Avoid heavy glasses or sunglasses sitting on the nose for 1 to 2 weeks
  • No gym, saunas, hot baths or sunbeds for 24 to 48 hours
  • Skip alcohol for 24 hours — it worsens swelling and bruising
  • Do not apply makeup over the injection points for 12 to 24 hours
  • Arnica cream can help with any bruising
