Common questions

Is there any downtime?

You can get straight back to normal life, though your eyes will look quite dark for the first two to three days and there may be some puffiness. Most people find this easy to manage with sunglasses if needed, and any swelling typically settles within 48 hours.

Does it hurt?

Most people find it very manageable — we apply numbing cream first, and the eyelid skin is thin so it responds well. You will feel a vibrating, ticklish sensation rather than anything sharp, and the eye is held gently taut so you cannot blink during the procedure.

How many sessions will I need?

This is a two-session treatment — your initial appointment plus a mandatory follow-up 4 to 6 weeks later to perfect the shape and deepen the colour. If you have a wedding or big event coming up, book your first session at least 10 to 12 weeks ahead so everything is fully settled and healed in time.

How long do the results last?

Your eyeliner will look dark immediately, then soften to its true colour over 7 to 14 days once healing is complete. From there it typically lasts 2 to 4 years, though this depends on your skin type, age and how much sun exposure you get.

Are there any side effects?

It is normal to have some redness, swelling and tiny pinpoint bleeding during the treatment. Afterwards the colour looks much darker than it will settle to, and you may see some light flaking as the skin heals. Infection is rare, and allergic reactions to pigment are uncommon, though any procedure carries a small risk of scarring if aftercare is not followed.

Preparing for your appointment

  • Remove lash extensions at least 3 days before — the area needs to be completely clear
  • Stop any lash growth serums 4 weeks prior — they increase blood flow and can cause bleeding
  • Remove contact lenses before you arrive — bring glasses instead
  • Come with no eye makeup on the day
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand — it thins the blood

Looking after your new eyeliner

  • Eyes will be puffy for 24 to 48 hours — this is normal and settles
  • No mascara or eye makeup for 7 days — infection risk is serious
  • No sweating, saunas or steam for 7 days
  • Apply petroleum jelly as a barrier for 3 to 5 days
  • Do not pick at any flaking skin — let it shed naturally
  • Avoid contact lenses for 48 hours after treatment

Do not book if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an active eye infection or inflammation
  • You have had LASIK surgery recently
  • You have a history of keloid scarring
  • You have a bleeding disorder or take blood thinners
  • You have diabetes (may affect healing)
  • You have eczema, psoriasis or other skin conditions around the eyes
  • You have glaucoma
  • You have a compromised immune system

How it compares

✅ Compared with Top & Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session)

  • Which lids it treats — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) treats either your upper or lower lash line in one appointment, not both; Top & Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) treats both your upper and lower lash lines together in the same session.
  • Appointment length — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) is a shorter appointment with less time in the chair and less swelling to manage; Top & Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) takes longer as it covers both lash lines, with more puffiness to manage afterwards.
  • Look it creates — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) gives subtle definition to just one lid - choose this if you only want enhancement on top or bottom; Top & Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) gives you the full framed-eye look with definition on both lids.
  • Choose this if you only want definition on one lid; choose combined if you want the full framed-eye look

✅ Compared with Eyeliner Colour Boost (0-5 Months)

  • What it does — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) establishes new pigment along your lash line if you have never had eyeliner before; Eyeliner Colour Boost (0-5 Months) refreshes existing pigment that is already there from a previous treatment.
  • Number of sessions — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) needs two sessions - your initial appointment plus a mandatory follow-up 4 to 6 weeks later to perfect the shape and deepen the colour; Eyeliner Colour Boost (0-5 Months) is a single visit because the pigment is already there.
  • Best for — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) is for you if you have never had eyeliner before; Eyeliner Colour Boost (0-5 Months) is for you if you are topping up recent work.
  • Choose this if you have never had eyeliner before; choose the boost if you are topping up recent work

✅ Compared with Eyeliner Colour Boost (6-12 Months)

  • What it is — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) is your first treatment, creating new permanent eyeliner from scratch; Eyeliner Colour Boost (6-12 Months) is a maintenance refresh for colour you already have.
  • Best for — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) is for anyone starting their eyeliner journey with no existing pigment; Eyeliner Colour Boost (6-12 Months) is for people with established colour that needs refreshing.
  • How the colour settles — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) goes through a darker phase and lightens to its true colour over 7 to 14 days as it heals; Eyeliner Colour Boost (6-12 Months) deepens existing colour without the initial dark healing phase of fresh pigment.
  • Number of sessions — Top or Bottom Eyeliner (1st Session) includes two sessions: your initial appointment plus a mandatory follow-up 4 to 6 weeks later; Eyeliner Colour Boost (6-12 Months) is a single refresh session to top up fading colour.
  • Choose this to start your eyeliner journey; choose the 6-12 month boost once you have established colour that needs refreshing
