Lip Blush (SPMU)

Book Lip Blush

✨ Wake up with perfectly tinted lips every single day — no mirror, no smudging, no reapplying.

How it works:

Common questions

Is there any downtime?

You'll have 7 to 10 days of visible healing. The first 2 days bring significant swelling and very dark, intense colour that looks dramatic. Days 3 to 7 your lips will feel tight and dry with peeling and flaking like sunburn. Most people plan 3 to 5 days of social downtime because of how swollen and dark the lips look

Does it hurt?

It's quite manageable — we apply strong numbing cream before we start and keep topping it up throughout, so most people describe it as a scratching or vibrating sensation rather than sharp pain. Your lips are naturally sensitive and vascular though, so you will feel it, and tenderness afterwards is normal for a day or two.

How many sessions will I need?

Most people need 2 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart — the second session is mandatory to perfect the colour and fix any patchy healing. If you've got a wedding or big event coming up, it's worth starting at least 12 weeks beforehand so everything's fully settled and healed in time.

How long do the results last?

You'll see colour immediately, though it will be 30 to 50 percent darker than your final result. The true colour settles and peaks at about 6 to 8 weeks once healing is complete. From there it typically lasts 1 to 3 years, with most people getting around 18 to 24 months before wanting a refresh.

Are there any side effects?

It's normal to have immediate swelling, tenderness, and some bruising where the needle enters. You'll experience pinpoint bleeding during the procedure, then scabbing and flaking as the lips heal, with itching around days 3 to 7. If you're prone to cold sores, the trauma can trigger an outbreak, which is why antiviral medication is essential. There's also a chance of uneven colour uptake, patchy healing, or in rare cases infection, allergic reaction to the pigment, or scarring.

Before your appointment:

  • Book 48 hours ahead for a patch test if you haven't had pigment work before
  • Take antiviral medication starting 2 days before if you've ever had cold sores — speak to your GP for Aciclovir
  • Avoid lip fillers for at least 4 weeks beforehand
  • Gently exfoliate your lips in the week leading up
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours before — it thins blood and increases bruising
  • Come with clean, makeup-free lips

After your appointment:

  • Expect significant swelling and very bright colour for 2-3 days — this is normal
  • Lips will peel and flake days 3-7 — do NOT pick at any scabs
  • Apply healing balm 3 times daily and keep lips hydrated
  • No kissing or oral contact for 7 days minimum
  • Eat with a fork and drink through a straw for the first week
  • Avoid spicy, salty, or hot foods for 3 days
  • No alcohol for 3 days — it can affect healing and colour retention
  • No makeup on the lips for 7 days
  • Continue antiviral medication for 3-5 days after if prescribed

Do not book if:

  • You are pregnant or breastfeeding
  • You have an active cold sore outbreak or history without antiviral cover
  • You've had lip filler in the last 4 weeks
  • You have uncontrolled diabetes or a blood clotting disorder
  • You take anticoagulant medication
  • You have a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
  • You have active eczema, psoriasis, or dermatitis on or around the lips
  • You are undergoing chemotherapy or radiation
  • You have an allergy to topical anaesthetics like lidocaine or tetracaine
  • You have severely chapped, cracked, or broken skin on the lips

How it compares

✅ Compared with Lip Colour Neutralisation

  • Primary purpose — Lip Blush adds a soft, diffused tint to pale or uneven lips so they look like you're wearing lip balm or a just-bitten stain; Lip Colour Neutralisation uses warm orange and peach pigments to cancel out blue, purple or brown undertones, creating an even canvas that can hold lighter shades.
  • Best for — Lip Blush is for anyone tired of pale, uneven, or 'disappearing' lip colour who wants fuller-looking lips without daily makeup; Lip Colour Neutralisation is for anyone with naturally dark, cool-toned or unevenly pigmented lips who has tried lip colour that never shows up true.
  • Number of sessions — Lip Blush needs 2 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart, with the second session mandatory to perfect the colour and fix any patchy healing; Lip Colour Neutralisation needs 2 to 3 sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart for full correction, then an annual colour boost to keep it fresh.
  • When to start before an event — Lip Blush needs at least 12 weeks beforehand so everything's fully settled and healed in time; Lip Colour Neutralisation needs at least 14 to 16 weeks beforehand so everything is fully healed and settled in time.
  • Choose Lip Neutralisation first if your lips are naturally dark, grey, or brown-toned; choose Lip Blush if your lips are already pale or pink
